    Let's be careful out there

I have had a lower back pain for a good few years. Various pain killers help but i dont like taking  them too much as they only mask the problem. 10 weeks ago i got sciatica which spread down my right leg, i still have a numb thigh  and right knee pain so at last i am being sent for a MRI scan...

    Fan isolation

If that is correct,  does a fan operated only by its integral pullcord need an isolator, a wall light with its own pull cord does not ?

    Theres a first from NICEIC

Not sure if they are. I have had calls from them regarding insurances, PL, PI & van , i seem to remember they use an agent. Also they were silly high prices.

    selv bathroom

To add what Doc said above, the Part P 'cert' is not electrical. Its to state the electrician followed all building regs when doing the electrical work. If he/she did not do the work in any part or fully see the full cable run etc they should not be submitting the  paperwork. Also in your case a...

    Fan isolation

I have  today studied that chapter and it does not mention isolation. Its main concern is if there is natural light, the luminaire will not be turned on so the fan wont, so in those cases a sensor of some sort is needed

    Fan isolation

We have & there are many places in the regs  such as 537.3.1.1 + many many more but one can always argue the main switch covers all these types of regs. Even so these regs are due to remote starting. If the fan can only be operated by its integral switch  is it any different to a wall light...

    Fan isolation

Does a fan with an integral pull cord for its only  on-off operation (no timers, stats ect) need an isolator ? Is it any different to a wall light with a integral pull cord. Asking this to see the  numerous different replies & opinions .

    Neighbours Eh!

'Shed boy' lives next door to us in their converted garage at the bottom of the garden and uses the side gate to come and go, normally about 1 am.

    Led dimmers flickering

The Resload is a snubber.  I had a look and Zano make exactly what we are looking for so will be swapping out the X10's

    Led dimmers flickering

Not the normal senario. I went with my mate to look at a job we first wired over 15 years ago. Multi million £ house in central London. All the lighting is wired through 'Powerhouse X10 dimmers or controllers'. The circuits we have problems with  have recently had halogen GU10's  replaced with...

    Neutral testing

By doing all these tests there is no need to do any live testing on those circuits

    House alarm fault

I think i uploaded the instructions to the C&k panel a while ago

    Neutral testing

How many of you test Neutral to Cpc, ie  Rn to R2  when testing either new circuits or on a Eicr  (to be clear, similar test to R1 + R2) . All circuits not just rings . Also have you seen any software or test sheets that has anywhere to record this ?

    Downlights doesnt work?

You now mention sensor. Some motion sensors dont like led's, not enough load. Also 2 wire sensors wont work with led but may show 230/240 v with a multimeter

    LED Snubber needed

https://cpc.farnell.com/search?st=snubber Did have a quick look there, only one or two of most types in stock but not sure what i need. Not sure of loadings etc as i did not visit, not even sure if they are MR11  or GU10 Ahh, 657 of those in stock ?

    LED Snubber needed

I need some suppressors/snubbers to stop LED lamps flickering/glowing  when off via a dimmer rack. Cant remember the dimmer make but its all remote stuff KNX controlled so its not getting changed. Where do i get these from, done a search here & the www but cant find anything. Dont really...

Well, the kids found it funny.....

We   recently gave up trying to get a permit to work at a certain airport we recently had a contract with. We were asked to do a load test on our completed shop unit as they had a few blackouts. The shops (or concessions, as they are known on site) have small supplies, Ours had a 3 phase 32A...
