Cheers Binky have never been great fan of erbeur but like said very economical and reviews do seem mostly positive. Not to sure if was build in mind to have dust collecter/hoover attached though. This is what I'm after primarily after

    Metabo 40....anyone took the plunge?

Anybody got any experience with the Metabo 40 wall chaser? I'm contemplating raiding my piggy bank for it. One expense I'm wondering if could save on is the near on £400 metabo dust collecter that's to be used with it. Is it not possible to attach any old hoover instead? Cheers

Meter tail length 10 metres in communal area?

Cheers Andy Is this what you would do in practice then....contact DNO and get some sort of documented response? Even in scenario like this where the only change of install is the board change. No expected load difference for install, no new circuits etc. The fuse rating for this cable was...

Meter tail length 10 metres in communal area?

Sorry guys for the late clarification on my post and the confusion I caused with it 🙄. I couldn't initially see clearly the the cabling between ryfield, meter and apartment. On closer look it was just a supply to a ryfield board on 2nd floor and then from a 60amp bs1361 within ryfield to meter...

Meter tail length 10 metres in communal area?

Thanks Andy. So what would you do in that situation then install another fuse at about the 3 metre point or just change/upgrade the existing fuse at the service head?

Meter tail length 10 metres in communal area?

Sorry lads predictive text it's a bs1361 I think I've sussed it gonna take deeper look I think it's a communal board and tails going to Fuse to meter then back to board ( on load side ) so this is in effect my tails and not exceeding 3metres. Going to take a closer look

Meter tail length 10 metres in communal area?

Hi all What is the situation in regards to excepted meter tail lengths for apartment installs. Changing board to 18th ed so all new certification required but meters are in landlord area and about 10metres from apartment DB. My reading of regs says 3M max tails but how is this possible in this...

    Smoke/Fire sealing behind DB

    Never considered that 👍

    Smoke/Fire sealing behind DB

Thanks Binky. Yeah I can't see anything in regs regarding sealing for smoke. I've seen it in certain properties and think your right more likely to be to do with design/construction of building i.e large voids between floors or higher risk of fire spreading due to materials used. That or...

    Smoke/Fire sealing behind DB

In all honesty Doc. The fact I'm posting this question means I'm doing my upmost to comply with regs and so leave a safe install. If there is nothing you ever queried or sort clarity around fair play to you. But I would rather leave an installation knowing I left it safe rather than be...

    Smoke/Fire sealing behind DB

Thanks Andy. So is there no reg saying need to seal board for smoke that may be produced aswell and enter voids. I suppose there probably isn't as any electrical switch/socket would need this also

    Smoke/Fire sealing behind DB

Happy Monday people Am wondering how most of you go about achieving adequate smoke and fire sealing with cables entering back of DB and going up into plasterboard. My understanding is that any smoke/fire generated from inside DB needs to be adequately sealed as not to spread into voids. The DB...

Recommendations for expandable fire stopping foam

Morning chaps Any recommendations for the above. Need sealant that can be applied around cables passing through holes. One that either comes with plenty of nozzles or can be reused without sealant becoming useless. Thanks

Acceptable jobs for Niceic domestic installer certification

Thanks Noz  Niciec does seem to be the most widely recognised so am going with them. Any advice with getting started out would be greatly appreciated. I'm going with domestic installer initially just because I think this will be easier to get registered as but am open and and a bit undecided on...

    Advice for starting out....please!!

Sharpend thanks for thoughts. I hear you with how domestic could be cut throat and difficult building stream of work. My hopes are in the longish term to have these more as jobs that I supplement income with i.e call out stuff, quick DB change or circuit addition. Commercial will probably be...
