New Phone Lines To Flats Conversion

BT/Openreach cannot give a definitive answer because they have the usual infuriating menu system with no appropriate option - then when you finally do get to speak to someone, they each want to redirect you back and forth whilst protesting that it's not within their remit.

New Phone Lines To Flats Conversion

Hi. I've tried BT Customer Services and Open Reach etc but going round in circles without getting the info I need so I thought I'd ask here. I'm involved in the conversion of one property into 4 seperate flats. The client is reluctant to have phone lines installed after the conversion as he...

    20A Underfloor Heating

It's not about the cost - I wanted to check my reasoning. Supply via isolator straight to contactor Yeah I had considered 4mm too and given your advice I will now use it - which makes the question re the use of a smaller cable for the stat even more relevant - suppose I could squeeze 4mm into...

    20A Underfloor Heating

I need to install 3 x 6.5A heating mats. I intend to use dedicated 20A radial in 2.5 mmT&E. Thermostat can only switch 16A so I will use a contactor - 2.5mm in 2.5mm out My question relates to the cable feeding the stat and in turn the contactor coil. This will not need to be 2.5mm as...

Basic Question On Fm / Tv Faceplates

Yes I know I should've mentioned this initially - and yes I knew I'd be pulled up on this by someone now - still I was willing to accept this and admit my mistake as a warning to others rather than hide it and say nowt. Close the thread if you want to.

Basic Question On Fm / Tv Faceplates

Thought I'd update everyone. This flat is in a block of about 16 flats using a communial aerial. I changed the faceplates and succesfully tested that each of the new ones were working then left. The client was on holiday whilst this work was being done - they returned to find a letter from the...

Basic Question On Fm / Tv Faceplates

Thanks to all for their advice. I should have mentioned that this set up is in a purpose built flat and is the original aerial installation. I will test out the coax to see what goes where. I will also invest in a signal meter. If as I suspect the plate with the single point which accepts two...

Basic Question On Fm / Tv Faceplates

Sorry Dave I've obviously not explained myself very well - I was trying to describe what's behind the old points!! The daisychaining appears to me to be how it's been done in the first place. I was hoping that someone could confirm whether or not I've worked this out correctly?

Basic Question On Fm / Tv Faceplates

This has arisen because a customer has asked me to change white accessories to chrome versions this will include a couple of TV points. I know very little about aerials as wil become apparent. The first two pictures show a combined FM/TV faceplate behind this are two coax cables - presumably...

Anybody Familiar With This Eberle Control.

Had a closer look today: Clock is fed from 5A fuse. When in LOW time period or switch in LOW position 230V (L&N) is fed from clock to two terminals on stat. Heaters are connected to 30A RFC via FCU. Using two different terminals in stat, L load side of FCU is fed to stat and when stat...

Anybody Familiar With This Eberle Control.

Working in a flat today which has one of these controls. There a four rooms, each has a thermostat and has (or used to have) 1 or 2 convector heaters. On the face of it I assume that this control is just a clock controlling the four zones and each of the four rocker switches enables the user to...

    PV array earthed to MET

Thanks - that second document refers to latest "Guide to the Installation of Photovoltaic Systems" which I found a link to on the same site. This latest version of the guide appears to use the same decision tree as the draft Version 3 quoted by Leeds Solar's earlier post which if I'm reading...

    PV array earthed to MET

Sorry to drag this back up. As far as I can see version 3 still remains unpublished. Are others already following the advice in version 3 regarding bonding? i.e. if the frame is not extraneous (>22kΩ) then don't bond (even with TL inverters)?

    Old Hat

In that case, if possible, I'd try to put socket under bath behind panel only removeable with the use of a tool.

    Fix Accessories In Exposed Brickwork

For a new conservatory I need to fix sockets etc to what was the external wall. This wall is being left as is with exposed brickwork. I'm unsure about sinking accesories into the brickwork because of the damage that may be done and obviously there will be no opportunity to make good. I'm also...
