    Recommendations for Solar PIR Flood

Can anyone recommend a good range of solar powered security floodlights? This needs to be positioned a long way from the house where no power is available This needs to work all year round. Probably best to have separate flood and remote panel to allow optimum positioning of both. Many thanks

CV19 Self Employed grant almost ready

No - simply treated the same within the context of support during the pandemic. I did actually say "treated the same now" - not "from now".......

CV19 Self Employed grant almost ready

Employed and self employed will all be required to contribute to the future payback via increased tax etc so both must be treated the same now.

CV19 Self Employed grant almost ready

I think it's more likely that they are waiting for everyone to be paid out before announcing the bad news and at the same time pointing to the fact that we all have a few quid in our pockets - in the hope that will dampen down the outcry from the self employed themselves whilst at the same time...

CV19 Self Employed grant almost ready

The employee furlough scheme was extended by one month a few weeks ago and then extended to October this week. I'm concerned how little noise has been made on each occasion, about the lack of extension to the SEISS. The chancellor has been asked about the scheme several times now and has avoided...

    Why doesn't RCD trip?

Yeah well done!- I know to test with the CPC in the earth bar. But it was removed to see where the fault actually was.

    Why doesn't RCD trip?

    6mm Cooker Circuit. R1 + R2 = 0.06 ohms. L - E IR > 999 M ohms. L - N IR > 999 M ohms. E - N IR = 0 M ohms. (between conductors only - cable removed from earth & neutral bars) E - N resistance 2.74K ohms. RCD ramp test 25mA RCD tests ok at 1/2, 1X & 5X Why even under load...

Complying with all regs on this consumer unit change

i'd be concerned as to why somebody installed the existing split CU but didn't then connect any circuits to the RCD side - what faults are lurking ?

How long can we carry on?

Ironic that parliament is on the verge of closing whilst no protection, either financial or against the virus, is being afforded to the many self employed involved in construction - in fact Matt Hancock is encouraging it ....

How long can we carry on?

Yes it is. I think there are loads of self employed out there that would RATHER stay at home and keep themselves, their families and everyone else safe - but struggle to see a way they can do it financially.  Over to you Mr Sunak ....

How long can we carry on?

That may be true of the really big plants (motor etc) but there are thousands of smaller factories still operating.

How long can we carry on?

I understand all of this, but people must be enabled to so - currently the self employed are not. Do you think that all manufacturing should be closed too?

How long can we carry on?

That's pretty much all sites - are they all closing? And domestic work?

How long can we carry on?

All far too vague (deliberately probably), no definition of 'essential' and no indication of essential to who.  At this point, whereby the self employed are offered no real support, I have decided it essential for me to continue to work in order to put food on the table. Whilst doing this I...

    Socket in island

I've decided to go with a hybrid solution: SSO into single 25mm metal back box within fixed panel - 7mm protruding inside unit. Cut single-metal-back-box-sized square out of double PVC pattress. Within unit fit pattress over protruding bit of metal back box. Trunk cable out of pattress - fit...

    Socket in island

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately client does not want anything in worktop... Rear of back box will be visible inside cabinet so metal back box not really an option.

    Socket in island

I need to fit a socket in an island where there is no void as such. So socket will have be let into a fixed panel of one the units (18mm thick) and cable run inside unit in trunking. What is the best option for a back box which will look neat and not have any holes - I'm currently considering...

    Office Lighting Levels

Can anyone share any practical advice on achieving acceptable lighting levels in offices.  These are small existing offices in a doctors surgery and include workstations and the like. Normal ceilings ie not suspended grid. I've tried to digest HSG38 (HSE lighting at work), but I'm after some...
