    NICEIC DI?........

My understanding is that @Murdoch is correct in that there is no qualification or scheme requirement required to undertake EICR's, but if you want to issue EICR certificates/paperwork including the NICEIC logo, then they insist that you are Approved Contractor status.

Surge protection, SPDs and LiVE products

The way I read 443.4, no SPD or risk assessment is necessary for single dwelling units where the total value of installation and equipment therein does not justify SPD.

    Opinions on Install Method

So do you see this as 102 Dave? Are you derating the cables at all?

    Opinions on Install Method

Thanks Dave. Of the two options, I'm now leaning towards running cables in the void. So cable will be loose in 40mm void formed by the gap between the insulation to either side. What i can't decide is what installation method covers this the closest? I will probably opt to run 16a/20a radials...

    Opinions on Install Method

This is how I picture it - a void between the 100mm celotex and the 12mm celotex by virtue of the stud being 140mm and the celotex being tight up against the OSB. So cables in that void is one option I considered - the other option is between the 12mm celotex and the plasterboard so the cable...

    Opinions on Install Method

Dave yes the first install scenario I'm talking about is the first floor of an extension. Ground floor is masonry first floor is timber frame. I was trying to choose between two ways to do the job: You're right there is no gap between d & e - so I see this as 102. The other way I was...

    First TT installation

Its an existing farm labourer's semi detached cottage - probably 60/70 years old . No obvious sign of any existing rod - I suspect earth is currently via water service (about 56 ohms) - but I haven't been able to get in and have a proper root around yet...

    Premature cable collapse fixings

What fixings are people using/considering using to comply with the regs regarding premature cable collapse? I've used Safe D fire rated cable clips within trunking but had mixed results when fixing with DeWalt Walldog screws alone - depending on what I'm trying to fix to! I'm also interested...

    FCU for Powered Velux

I need to install a supply for a Velux Integra window in a flat roof. I intend to use the existing lighting circuit (Velux state max 200w - I'm also replacing 5 branch light with LED downlights so capacity is there). Is it acceptable to position the FCU unit in the ceiling recess where the...
