    Switching Off Timer Fan

As you can see from original post always intended to also have 3 pole iso adjacent to fan. Thanks - I will go with this method.

    Switching Off Timer Fan

Agreed and I did tell them this - but they want what they want - dont they always! Yep agreed! I guess the fact that most of you guys are encouraging me to approach this in a different way means I cant rely on the fan to work the way I want it to! Many thanks for all the input.

    Switching Off Timer Fan

Then I'll need to either have a single plate for the light switch and another for the fan, or a dual or a grid. Outside of bathroom all nicely decorated thought one single plate would be less disruptive and has to be done for light switch anyway.

    Switching Off Timer Fan

I wanted 3 pole by fan so anyone working on fan in loft can safely isolate the fan without it possibly being switched back on outside bathroom.

    Switching Off Timer Fan

I'm installing an inline timer fan connected to bathroom lighting so will be using 3 pole isolator in loft next to fan for isolation. Client wants to be able to turn fan off at night. Obviously the permanent Line (connected to fan L1) is usually powering the fan during overrun. Currently all...

The Old Smoke Alarm Circuit Debate

Well perhaps I'm wrong but that's not how I read it - that's a bit like saying dont supply the alarm via a standard switch (fairly obvious!) I thought they were talking about 'noise' etc and this is from their website: New Installation – What do I need to check? Choose the right alarms for...

The Old Smoke Alarm Circuit Debate

Also worth bearing in mind that Aico at least, specify that their alarms should not be fitted to circuits which have dimmers connected. Now there might not be dimmers present at the time you install the alarm, but somebody might add them after and undermine the smoke alarms.

The Old Smoke Alarm Circuit Debate

From the Aico website: "Q: Do I need a mains feed to each RadioLINK base? Yes, each base needs a permanent mains feed. This can be taken from the lighting circuit nearest to that base – as long as it's a permanent feed"

    Clipped Cable/studs/insulation

My biggest concern relates to socket rings/ radials. Ive seen a lot where the cable is surrounded by insulation yet MCBs used are still 32A/20A (i.e. no derating applied)

    Clipped Cable/studs/insulation

When clipping cable direct to studwork where insulation is present, how do you avoid the part of the cable that enters the dry lining box being completely surrounded by insulation whilst keeping to safe zones? Dry lining boxes have to be positioned at least slightly away from studs so that the...
