Best Hybrid Inverter For Solar Setup

I have a Solis 3.6kW hybrid inverter with 2 US3000C Pylontech batteries - only 10 x 400w panels. Has worked faultlessly for the last year. I'm adding a 3rd battery because in summer the output is enough to fully charge the batteries by early afternoon. Solis Cloud app lets you monitor panel and...

    Pylontech ios app?

Simple solution was to install Solis Cloud app, which has superseded Solis Home, and includes the battery data as shown by Chrisbee(y)

    Pylontech ios app?

Home Assistant Unit sounds interesting - how would I set that up? The Solis Home iphone app shows realtime generation but it doesn't show the batteries at all. The display on the inverter itself is something like the pic above, but I can't get that on the iphone.

    Pylontech ios app?

Anyone know of an iphone app that will let me monitor my Pylontech batteries? I'd like to remotely check the level of charge, which I can see on the Solis inverter display, but that info is not available on the Solis Home app. There is a Pylontech Home app, but I can't find any user reviews...

Best investments to leverage the output of a small 2.3kWh PV array to reduce household running costs?

Solis hybrid inverter, 10 x 400w panels. I used an MCS certified company to install. I'm interested to know if a hot water diverter e.g. Eddi will co-exist happily with the batteries, opinions seem to differ. I haven't got a smart meter because I can't see the system generating enough extra...

Best investments to leverage the output of a small 2.3kWh PV array to reduce household running costs?

Battery pack doesn't cost £4k. 3.5Kwh Pylontech currently available at £1700. My panels are on a southeast facing roof and in the current glorious sunshine the batteries are fully charged by early afternoon. Generation drops off considerably in late afternoon due to the panel orientation, but...

    Ring main return cable route

As others have said... use 35mm boxes and 4mm radial circuit.

EICR Question - Consumer Unit and Downlighters

Q1. There is no requirement to replace the existing plastic consumer unit with a metal one. Q2. The downlighters are probably fine as the house is usually a single fire compartment. Can't see any problems with what you have shown - just get a sparky to come and do an EICR then take it from...

Thanks binky. Do you know anything about Tesla powerwall?

    Solar PV installer in Surrey

I don't fancy crawling around on roofs any more, but I'd like an idea of which makes of panel, inverter etc. to seek/avoid, ta.

    Solar PV installer in Surrey

Can anyone recommend a solar PV installer in Surrey? I'm a retired sparks looking for a firm that knows what they're doing. Please PM me if you prefer.

    wireless pir suggestions

I've been using Friedland Spectra (aka MK/Honeywell) wireless PIRs to switch driveway lights. Very convenient as they have a battery powered PIR transmitter that can be sited where you like. Problem is that they all stop working after about 3 years and replacements seem to be unavailable now...

    Rental properties and rcd

This thread started as a question about rcd protection and has sadly sunk into ugly racism.  Lack of rcds and bonding in rented properties is in no way confined to any particular ethnic group. And the stream of consciousness drivel that veers from smoke detectors to child abuse is repellent.

MCB to fit LAP consumer unit

Seems to have drifted off thread a bit. Anyway, I have a plan B - there is a spare 32A breaker in the board, so the new radial will now be 4mm rather than 2.5, problem solved.

MCB to fit LAP consumer unit

I made the mistake of installing a LAP branded dual RCD consumer unit from Screwfix 3 years ago. Now I need a 20 amp mcb to go in it, and surprise surprise, they no longer stock them.  Their customer support was predictably useless, so I'm looking for another brand of mcb that fits. Anybody else...

    Overloaded cable, or not ?

Perfect demonstration of why you should never double back the cable if there is more than one cable in the connector.  Straight cut cable ends would have avoided the problem.

    Sparky in Tunbridge Wells area

Looking for a domestic sparks to do some work for a friend of mine near Tunbridge Wells.  He's about 50 miles too far for me or I'd do it myself.  Any recommendations from forum members please? Thanks in advance.

    A near miss.

Fluke voltstick is the only one to have. The Kewtech one is too sensitive so you can't isolate conductors. And you can turn the beep off on the Fluke for those times when you don't want to be startled by the noise.

    Anyone any good with electronics?

Just buy the DeWalt batteries. Or you'll end up with a bodged-up battery flopping about on a lead, which will probably explode when you try to charge it up.  What a crock.

    STROMA

I moved from NICEIC to Stroma this year when I'd finally had enough of the former's haughty attitude and useless organisation.  So far, Stroma seems to be much more friendly and of course much cheaper.  They're still not perfectly organised - I had to send them copies of qualifications etc. a...
