Thanks guys, so...let me see if I get this. The two reds go together? (in a seperate connector?) I take it they have no further use in the light fitting? The Black and Blue go together to Neutral? Yellow goes to Live? and the yellow and green goes to Earth?? Is that right?

The lights are switched separately? But there are only 2 reds, a blue, black yellow and then the 2 wires in one green and yellow sheath. See attached photo.

As I said, I'd done a few that were all the same but just disconnected this one as if it was the same as the others. Hey, if I wasn't daft, you'd have nothing to do on a bank holiday Monday. :)

The first two photos are by the back door. The switch in question is the one closest to the camera, the other one is for an outside light. The 3rd photo is by the other door.

Yeah there is a switch for that particular light at each door (2 doors)
