Is it possible to take power for a 1.kw towel rail heater and extractor from a lighting circuit

One thing you will find about the forum members is that they are not mind readers, and don't know your background. So it does help if you make that clear from the outset. You will also find we don't like 'spoon feeding' people, so if you have a problem, and explain what you think is a potential...

Ducting length for a cooker hood extractor fan?

Interesting, that's been kept surprisingly quiet.

Is it possible to take power for a 1.kw towel rail heater and extractor from a lighting circuit

Plenty got blown across the room, all learnt electricity is dangerous 😀. Now was there an odd death, yes, of course there was, but in percentage terms, you're probably looking at something like 0.0001% of the population. No kids I know if we're killed, I know of far more sparkies killed by...

Is it possible to take power for a 1.kw towel rail heater and extractor from a lighting circuit

They will probably do the job regardless. When I was young, RCDs didn't exist, fuseboards were all wire, and earthing on lighting non existent. Somehow we all lived to tell the tale, despite our mother's knitting and leaving knitting needles lying around.. Very few properties like that exist now.

    Bathroom dimmer and Extractor fan

Humidity sensor fans are the work of beelzebub and either fail to run it run for hours in end.

    Earthing/bonding questions re. garden shed

Without knowing what else is going on, we need to know the construction of said shed. A metal frame tells us nothing about the rest of the shed.

    Hello all ...

I retrained as an electrician after many years as an electro mechanical engineer. Like your self I was pretty well versed in electrical theory , but you have to appreciate the is power distribution rather than control circuitry, and it's more about the physical installation of the cabling. Just...

    Board change help

Sounds like a neutral has been taken from the 20a circuit for a light , so you would need to find that connection and remove it. Turn off the 20 A and find what doesn't work anymore.

What size trip should have been fitted?

If fitted properly they can be immersed in a puddle to a depth of 1m. However, many installers seem to lack MC4 spanners needed to do them up properly, or overtigten and cross thread them. Some factory fitted connectors aren't always great, and a favourite of any seal leaking is getting dirt on...

Bathroom fan signal live wire on a dimmer - okay or not?

I don't think he's right about that, or the fan would not work when you switch the light on. Either way it's probably looking for a 240V pulse.

Heat source pump dryer tripping the rcd.

Ok , play nicely now, tis the season of good will to all, except stormtroopers of course 😃 I seriously doubt the op has any form of test gear to do a more effective investigation, in which case it's a valid suggestion to at least minimise the impact of nuisance tripping until they can get an...

Heat source pump dryer tripping the rcd.

Random tripping is usually a fridge or freezer, but it may be a faulty RCD, or a build up of earth leakage from various appliances, one of which is becoming faulty.

    Luminaire assistance

Any room for a transformer or does it need to be self contained? I'm thinking the led version of the old G20 cabinet lights might be suitable.

    Off grid inverter issue

Change the MCBs for RCBOs, your issue is earth leakage across shared circuits. Currently you have 30mA earth leakage max, whereas RCBOs give 30mA per circuit. It also sounds like the new inverter has higher earth leakage than the old unit. You also shouldn't be sharing RCDs with solar inverters...

    Induction cooker installation

I'm intrigued by the tape on the main fuse. I think you need to contact your local DNO to report a potentially dangerous fuse carrier - it won't cost you anything to do so, or any repairs.
