    NVR networking problem

Thank you. I'll have to think about that; it's getting a bit deep for me. I'm running Windows 10 which has Edge but I usually revert to Google. If by full functionality you mean the ability to control the recorder, search, playback, etc I'm not bothered about that. I just want to be able to see...

    NVR networking problem

Thank you for the response. I am doing that. It gives me the option to say where it is stored, or automatically put it in the "certificate store", (whatever that is). I let it do this, and do the usual microsoft permission to change my computer. All looks reasonable, but makes B all difference...

Check you haven't caught one of the conductors with a plate screw.

    NVR networking problem

Hi, Are there any Network Video Recorder experts on here, who could perhaps help me with a problem? I have an EAGLE-NVR-4-2BUL-8MP-1TB, purchased from CPC and installed in my bungalow, with three cameras. In itself it works fine with the images on its dedicated monitor, record/replay as...

    SWA Termination Query

I would guess that someone damaged the cable and didn't want to admit to it. So, bodge it, bury it and leave pronto. A paving contractor I employed did exactly that to my telephone cable!

Upgrading home service from 60Amp to 100Amp

As it was once explained to me, "fuses are for short circuit protection, circuit breakers give overload protection". An over simplification, I know, but true.

    Weird Voltage reading

If three lamps are working and one not surely the fault has to be on the feed to the duff one? Probably a broken connection where-ever that one connects to the rest. It can't really be the dimmer.

Upgrading home service from 60Amp to 100Amp

They may be willing to fit an 80amp fuse. Should be adequate and save you a lot of money if the 100amp demands a cable change. The DNOs have their own rules for cable sizing too.

    Help needed with issue discovered

Whoever made the installation needs a good talking to ! At least! Even the most basic dead or live testing would have shown up the mistake. In the event the installer and any supervision are fortunate not to be making court appearances with potential manslaughter or negligence charges.

New Induction Hob No Earth Terminal

It sound as though the manufacturer's instructions don't say very much. I would be dubious about wiring it straight onto a 32amp supply.

    Generator and earth rod problems

Sorry, but this reminds me of a cartoon I saw a while ago, showing a generator with a bucket of soil and earth rod in it.

DC HOME - HVDC CL4 / FMPS Solar System (possible)?

Bit of light reading here : https://www.buildings.com/resiliency-sustainability/energy-water-efficiency/article/33018105/is-digital-power-getting-the-upper-hand

Anyone else think this is a daft CU configuration?

Whist not disputing the advantages of RCBOs, all the fault finding advantages can be met by using dual pole MCBs. A few years ago I had the dubious privilege, (whilst on holiday!), of solving an earth fault problem at a relative's property in France. This was fitted with dual RCDs and two pole...

Proven WT6000 Wind Turbine and FIT + Deemed Export Queries

The FIT arrangements you describe sound like those applying to my solar panel installation which was installed 2014. I hadn't really thought of it as being paid three times but is a good deal, having paid for itself in around eight years and now a bonus. My set up cost about £4.5k in 2014. I've...

    RFI From Inverter

Is the only earth on the inverter through the mains cable? If so, I wonder if short direct links between the inverter case and the filter cases would be beneficial. This just intuitive ! I'm no EMC expert.

Light fault 'tripping' RCD on the ring circuits.

If you are using a cheap DIY type multimeter it will have high impedance input. This makes readings from open circuit wires meaningless as it will detect capacitive and inductive coupled voltages. Even strong radio signals can be picked up under some conditions.

Light fault 'tripping' RCD on the ring circuits.

Spot on! BUT you are missing the point that the circuit under discussion is connected to the supply BEFORE the RCD. Hence no current is, or can, flow through the RCD without some additional connection to its downstream side..

Light fault 'tripping' RCD on the ring circuits.

Please explain how an RCD can trip for a neutral to earth fault UPSTREAM of it's supply. We all know how it works for a fault downstream; no argument there.

Light fault 'tripping' RCD on the ring circuits.

Connected at a generator? Where is your neutral connected to earth? Are there other possible "earths", such as plumbing ? My thinking is that part of the fault current from your non-rcd lighting is somehow going through one side (probably neutral) of your power circuit rcd. This suggests to...
