    RCCB tripping randomly

Thank you everyone. I'm just thinking if I do get an all RCBO board fitted at least in the future if I have an issue it will be easier to locate the fault. I was looking at this board earlier... http://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-sentry-100a-12-way-main-switch-metal-consumer-unit-6-x-rcbos/8318p If...

    RCCB tripping randomly

I would like to report him after I get all this sorted. If I do get an all RCBO CU fitted wouldn't it be easier to find the fault (if any), as only one RCBO of the affected circuit would trip and we'd be able to tell exactly which circuit the fault is on? Or have I got it all wrong?

    RCCB tripping randomly

The builder's power tools were running most of the day today but no RCD trips, but then again it can happen after 10 days or 20 days so I'm thinking will be very hard to find the fault, it's very intermittent.

    RCCB tripping randomly

Thanks, I would prefer it to have two RCDs and the power switch. If they would be able to fit in the same box that would be great. Thanks, sounds good. I will take a picture tomorrow of the space around the CU.

    RCCB tripping randomly

Thanks for the advice peeps. I might just get a new metal unit installed rather than messing about with this one, possibly an RCBO one depending on what the prices would be. @steptoe by looking at my pics would it be possible to get a price (total including parts/labour) to replace the...

    RCCB tripping randomly

Thank you. I'm going to look at getting this sorted ASAP.

    RCCB tripping randomly

I will just have to accept the loss. I will look into it. He was at mine for 1 hour maximum. I can remember from the last time the box was opened that there were two wires in each of the left hand side MCB's and now there's only one in each of them. Thanks I really appreciate that. I'll check...

    RCCB tripping randomly

Thanks Doc. I wasn't at home, he said he would be at my house between 4-5pm and turned up at 9.30pm, this was when I had gone to work as I start at 7pm. My wife was home and she didn't know much, but I can't blame her. Now if I can get this checked my a proper electrician and ask him to make a...

    RCCB tripping randomly

Very true, but you know most of them won't even care what we think. They'll carry on as normal.

    RCCB tripping randomly

Is it dangerous enough that I need to get it sorted immediately?

    RCCB tripping randomly

Yeah, I'm sure Steptoe would do a great job I don't doubt that. If I show him this thread he might not get back to me again as he's been called all sorts on here lol, but I know what you mean.

    RCCB tripping randomly

Right, here's a pic of the CU underside. I've tested the MCB's (not all) and have found that the first MCB from the left and the Third one both do the same thing which is turn on/off the downstair sockets.

    RCCB tripping randomly

Steptoe is close to me. I've just lost out 90 quid it seems so it's going to be a bit hard to get it all fixed so soon, I'm guessing it will cost a lot more do get a proper job done of it. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to give him a call first and explain what he has done and then give him a...

    RCCB tripping randomly

Seems that way now that I'm starting to understand more of how this works.

    RCCB tripping randomly

It now looks that way. I'm going to post another pic of the underside. He didn't leave a receipt. He probably is what you say he is. I have no idea what he's done. I wish I knew more about this stuff. It's a Crabtree Loadstar. I'll post a pic in a few mins. I don't think I'll ever see a refund...

    RCCB tripping randomly

Thanks. I'll do that first thing after I wake up. I hope that's not £90 gone down the drain. I wonder how he's managed to fit them if they're not designed for that board. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

    RCCB tripping randomly

That's not good. He's supposed to have fixed the rccb tripping, but obviously it would go days without tripping sometimes so we won't even know for the next week or two if it has been fixed. I thought that was weird as well that it's missing the big red isolator switch. I'm at work and my wife...

    RCCB tripping randomly

So we had another electrician come out while I was at work and he changed a few things on the consumer unit. Does this look okay? Before pic... https://postimg.org/image/pctiyd1sv/ After pic... https://postimg.org/image/4cebc8wdz/

    RCCB tripping randomly

Thanks for that. They've been working on the same wall, the other side of the wall where the fuse box is. Could be the vibrations make it trip. I'll have to investigate that.
