Can anyone explain where the Back Up battery is please (CMOS)? Is it an easy job to do? Or would I have a lot of stripping out to do?

It appears that you have to gain access to the internet to get the password recovery programmes. I am unable to access the net. :( I am on my desktop pc at the moment. Thank you for the link though.

Yes, all lowercase. It has had WindowsXP Professional (2001) added to it (Service Pack 1). (on the sticker underneath it says windows 200 - so it has been upgraded at some point).

The "Administrator" comes on, on it's own as users name? and no password, I have tried the "double click" in case the previous owner had stored it in for it to remember it - with no joy. :_|

You test it by using of these, for example. you them compare the readings to ones within the BS7671:2008 Regulations book. That is a short way of describing it. :)
