New Growatt SPH + Li6532 Installation queries

So your battery could be completely depleted in the wrong circumstances, that VERY not good!

New Growatt SPH + Li6532 Installation queries

If the battery gets below what ever the force charge % is it will still force charge regardless of anything you set wont it? I await enlightenment ;-)

New Growatt SPH + Li6532 Installation queries

If you dont want it to "force charge" you will need to set you min SOC percentage higher, or if your battery's allow your Force charge percentage lower. Solis released a new firmware for their hybrids that now include this, bout time too! Cheers Stu

growatt min 3600 tl-x not generating even in sunshine

If you take a quick look at the specs for your inverter the start up voltage is 100v MINIMUM! U cant make that with just two panels in series, U will need a minimum of three panels in series :-) Cheers Stu

    Start Capacitor Query

Yep as long as you got an ac mains capacitor of the correct rating u r good to go. If a cap shows only one value without a plus and minus percentage then the value stated should be a minimum value. Capacitors can have really quite wide tolerance values compared to say resistors. The Starter cap...

Type A or Type B RCD/RCBO for solar pv

Just to add for reference, I've used Wylex type A RCBO's and never had any problems..... yet, mainly because my OCD likes a nice row of matching breakers :-) But as binky says the Inverter checks its self every time it starts up so a correctly rated MCB is fine. What is not fine is sharing one!

    Solar PV earthing advice

Its always the hidden MC4 connector shuved in with no due care and attention that causes the trouble, even a quick tie wrap to keep them a little sheltered is very effective. If you read suppliers paperwork carefully, manufacturers say they only guarantee interconnecting MC4's of the SAME...

    Solar PV earthing advice

My view is, that if you have lightning and a nice earthed array, mr lighning bolt will go, oooh look a nice path to earth lets give it max amps, and you could end up with a smouldering mess!

    Solar predicament

Yep totally agree with Binky, the rules state competent person, so an appropriately trained spark fits in that category. Send it! ;-)

    Growatt battery not discharging

If your CT is making lots of noise it is either:- A) Not closed properly B) Not got a load on it, i.e. its not plugged in! Can you confirm on your inverter that it is seeing the CT and responding to it? Is it direct or via mod bus on those? Cheers Stu

    MCS Scheme Redevelopment...

100% agree on that one Binky, unless there are enough of you to have a staffed office or your 100% dedicated to solar jumping through all the ridiculess hoops is a monumental waste of time, and having seen a few so called "certified" installs you know that its a self serving Quango that does...

On sunny days, Inverter switches off when DC voltage gets too high

thats a great result. Have they said what the firmware change log is?

    Solic 200 problems

I think they calibrate themselves, as the CT input just looks for a sign change in current flow. The quick way to do it is as per instructions but it is constantly monitoring so it has to adjust anyway, else it would be useless. I set one of the old ones up for a customer using the other mode...

On sunny days, Inverter switches off when DC voltage gets too high

I'm slightly unsure of your connection. Can you clarify, do you have one or two strings? If two equal strings then the voltages are dealt with totally separately internally so there is no doubling of voltage. Your inverter maybe running into thermal overload problems perhaps or you are getting...

    Clicking noise within ceiling void

it sounds like a mighty big contactor, if it is, for a domestic property, he have E7 and its no where near that loud! I am guessing taking a saw to the ceiling is not the desired approach?!

    solis app readings

Do you need to change the setting in the Portal to reflect your setup? I thought the app just mimics what is set there? Have you logged into solis cloud and seen how its all setup? Stu

Is a 17th Edition metal consumer unit still legal to fit?

The metal CU is absolutely fine, in fact i have recently fitted several, however i ditched the internals and went full RCBO. Pic attached, I'm sure someone will give me a flaming for something in this pic? If only i new what it was now I could Photoshop it in or out ;-) Cheers Stu
