Does building control design and construct. No they don't. But what they will do is inspect all wiring at 1st fix stage. Inspect at 2nd fix and look at certificates and then and only then sign it off and issue a building compliance certificate. A QS at a large company would normally be the chief...

I can assure you that I do not cut corners. The job in question will have input and supervision by me. I work to a high standard and within standards. You are correct that it is interesting how a post develops. The majority of questions on here can get away from the actual query in the first...

Yes. I do appologise for the incoherence and lack os detail and what may appear to some as arrogance. I am somewhat despondent with the industry at the moment having to shell out for this and that. When part P came out I wrongly thought great, at last, they are starting to sort the industry out...

Sorry chaps. I gota agree and disagree with alot of the comments and feel that I have started something that has a lot of views, wrongly or rightly. I strongly feel THAT, if you are willing to accept that the Installation complies and you are willing to take responsibility then sign it off...

Correct me if I am wrong. Does it matter who signs off or notifies. As long as the work is to standards and tested and complies with BC. The person who signs it off is the one where the buck stops and the one that is responsible

Why use scams certs. Any cert will do. Make up your own if you want so long as all the information requested in BRB is included. I argued this point with nic on assessment day and he conceded. I wasn't gonna pay their extortionate rates for a bit of paper

Maybe I didn't explain very well. Doing this on my phone doesn't help. Technically I am not a QS on the same firm. Old boy gets paid for rewire and I get paid for testing and paperwork. Two separate entities if you like. I'm basically helping him getting job signed off. Trust him implicably...

Scenario. Elderly sparks rewires a flat. Is not part P and not 17th but been doing it all he's life. Work is to a high standard and if in doubt will ask. If I oversee the job and sign it off on a 3 part EIC. Myself doing the insp and test. In effect doing the job of building control. I know a...

    Addition to 40 flats

Extending any circuit does not make it less safe. Rcd protection. It's either mandatory or not. Would you sign it off. Very ambiguous this rcd stuff. Amendments or not IEE regs need to clarify this. I for one would not be happy for the BRB to leave this decision down to installer. It's open...

Appreciate the replies. Just wondering if anyone out there uses or has used them to say "rubish, stay clear" or "yes, have had some work out of them". Dont like spending hard earned on scams, so if I have not heard anything positive tonight I will decline. Cheers
