Sadly, there is a maximum distance between a TT installations earth rod and the supply transformer, I believe it is 50m according to my memory bank, this is why sometimes if a CU is placed at one end of an installation you have no choice but to put the earth rod at the other end even if the soil...

But I have no idea why it becomes uneffective if you exceed twice the driven depth of the earth rod?, any ideas from the forums scientists?. Pray

When you say "lampost type light", do you mean a lampost but smaller in size?, most lamposts have a service hatch at the bottom as im sure you have seen and there are all different shapes and sizes, if the lampost your fitting has a service hatch, I would do as the previous comment suggests and...
