Sorry but you are right it is Sunday morning and you have me confused.

You say you have 2 way lighting but no mention of a second switch, do you mean 1 way lighting supplying 2 lights?

2nd light fitting has line, neutral and earth from mains plus 2nd light cable in Together. ?????

A clearer description of your current install would help.

Oh and incidentally it is Where have I GONE wrong.

The 2nd light live needs to be with 1st light switched live, and the 2nd light neutral needs to go with the neutrals at the 1st light, that's all there is to it.

Loop in, loop out, and switch. Not rocket, but the post had me scratching my head!!!

As steps has said you do not need a live neutral and earth from the mains at the second light

What you describe at the first light is correct

What you need to do is simply connect the cable linking the first and second light to the switched live conductor, mains neutral and mains earth

So at the first light you would have

3x lives ( mains in mains out mains to switch)

3x neutrals ( mains in mains out neutral connection to second light)

4x earths ( mains in mains out link cable earth and switch cable earth)

Return wire from switch into switched connection of first light ( to make light work) along with 'live' conductor in the link cable supplying the second light

If its a standard rose style fitting the mains supply at second light can simply be terminated in the loop live, neutral and earth connections

The 2nd light live needs to with 1st light switched live, and the 2nd light neutral needs to go with the neutrals at the 1st light, that's all there is to it.
Wire it to the permanent live if you want the light on all the time lol like a DIY emergency light lol

sorry guys i was well hungover this morning and had to escape the mother in law ranting on so i went into the garage lol

so basically i need to take out the mains out live from 2nd light and connector block that leaving the live from the link cable to act as the live coming from switch live in 1st light.

cheers fellas

1st light

3 lives mains in mains out live from switch

3 neutrals mains in mains neutral from link to 2nd light

4 earths

1 flagged neutra from switchl and live from link together.

2nd light

2 neutrals mains and link cable

2 earths mains and link cable

1 live from link cable

with mains live in an additional connector block

right, Im not trying to get on one here, but this is why electricity kills!

WTF have you got a neutral from in that sentence?

I know I shouldnt, but Im going to assume you mean you have a blue cable sleeved brown!

it is NOT a neutral!!!!!

headbang

terribly sorry mr steptoe yep blue with brown sleeving not a f##### neutral

Your first light of the two should have a line in and possibly a line out unless it is the last of the circuit, a neutral in as line, and your switch wire. Your second light if worked from the same switch will require a link from the first light only.

To do this the line should be connected to the L of the first light, the neutral should be connected to the neutrals of the first light and the earth speaks for itself.

If you look at a standard rose fitting you will find three separate connection bars, two connectors for line, then three or four connectors for loop, and three connectors for neutral. Your second light is fed from the neutral and the two line connectors.

I think the moral of this story is don't do electrics when your ****ed. You wouldn't drive your car if you had a skin full the night before well you shouldn't anyway.

sorry guys job has been complete this morning with a clear head thank you
