Hi There :)

I'm looking to get a 220V laser hair removal machine from China which will have a "UK" plug. Are there any issues with voltage to concern?

Tx

lots, as 220V is out of the allowed lower range of mains voltages in the UK. You need stuff rated for EU / UK which is usually 230V and ideally gear rated for around 250V as UK voltages can run at upto 253V.

If you do buy this product, please make sure the 13A plug has a fuse .....or a suitable  sized fuse for the appliance / cord

Sometimes the plug advertised with international devices is in fact a low voltage adaptor providing a low (say 12 volts), for the actual working unit. The quality can be variable, (to be polite).

If that is the case the safest thing to do is discard the Chinese supplied one and buy one locally for UK mains with the same output and connector.

There is every chance it will still come from China but it's safety and suitability for UK mains will be underwritten by the importer.

Is there any adapter that would do the trick?

What Kind would you reccomend? The manufacturer says it comes with the UK Plug but is there something else attachable tyo ensure safety?

er... 230v tolerance is 217-253...
Does that mean it should be safe & work as provided?

Not readily available for home use.

I only guessed that it may use an adaptor. If it does you would need to know the output voltage, current, and connector type to look for a substitute.

It means you are taking risks. It will probably work but its safety is questionable.

Companies importing and retailing electrical goods into UK are legally obliged to ensure their compliance with our safety standards.

When you import stuff direct you assume that responsibility, and that includes buying via Amazon, e-bay, etc.

There is definitely some seriously dangerous electrical equipment available from China, and the fact that the supplier thinks UK uses 220volt supplies is not a good  sign.

There is actually a campaign ongoing to halt the direct trade in uncertified electrical goods, especially through Amazon, etc

my bad, but that doesn't mean it is designed to work at 253V - we had a discussion on here a while ago about LED lamps popping becuase they weren't rated for the higher end of UK voltages.
