Hi all, this is my first post on this forum I hope someone can help! I am 24 and a first year apprentice I did start the 2330 back in 2007 but was self employed and the company I was working for went under so I dropped out of college just before completing my first year ( worst mistake ever by the way lol) had I carried on I would have been qualified by now. Anyway I have managed to finally get a start with a firm on the books and started college in September.

The problem I have is that my new college don't seem to have a clue about what modules I am doing and when I am suppose to be doing them, I have not been given any layout of our course or anything, whereas at my other college it was all laid out and explained properly. I am attending college where my lecture falls asleep during lessons EVERY WEEK! And is giving us old 2330 papers. Now i have complained to the college and the head of department but nothing seems to change so I have realised that if I'm to pass I kind of need to do it myself as I won't be getting much help from them. Anyway is there anybody who is doing the 2357 who can explain it to me I.e what modules we are suppose to be completing and in what time frame and when do we have exams I really don't want to get caught short because I am not being given then information I need. Any help would be really appreciated. Cheers

I haven't got a clue about the course content stuff....

But to be perfectly honest if you (or someone else) is paying an educational establishment for some training,

and they are NOT giving that training to a reasonably acceptable level,

then I would be wanting a refund!!

How many are in your class? are they all happy with lectures falling asleep???

Do further education colleges also come under ofsted?...    can they offer any help??

Have you put your complaint in writing to the college?

In most establishments verbal complaints count for absolutely nothing...

as they can deny you ever said anything.

Needs to be in writing to get any response.

Also ...

How were you "self employed" in 2007 (age 18?) if you have no qualifications????

Or were you just unskilled manual, cable bashing, sub-contractor, type labour?

City & Guilds should give a break down of the content of all of their courses..

welcome to the forumbulator..

Thanks for your reply, yes they have me a complaint form to fill out which I have and will be returning on Wednesday for definite. There are 7 people in my class including myself and no absolutely no one is happy atall it is ridiculous. We did however find out that our lecturer has recently had cancer which is a horrible thing to have to go through and I am I'm no way being disrespectful as my mum has been thorough it recently but if he is not up to teaching our class then I feel he shouldn't be in the position he is as he does fall asleep during every lesson. In regards to how was I self employed yes exactly that. I was employed as a labourer to work alongside an electrician and was putting myself through college. I am not sure about ofsted maybe that's another route to go down, it's just I could do with some answers from someone who is doing the same coruse.
