Afan Lido is a landmark Building on the Seafront of Aberavon.

Ms Lido lifeguard Justine Jones, 19, and was one of four staff on duty at the poolside and was the person who raised the alarm.

She told the BBC News website: "I spotted the fire in the poolside. There is a feature temple and fake rocks and the smoke was coming from inside the rocks, I heard a 'pop' and there was smoke and flames everywhere. It was coming from the bottom by the slides."

:(

I have mixed emotions; it's a very sad thing to happen but the child in me thinks the concept of a swimming pool on fire slightly amusing.

At no point do I say that the 'Pool' Is on fire, Patch. ;)

Theres a thing that occurs in Birmingham fairly often, if there is an derelict but listed buiding that happens to be in the way of , say , a new housing project or road widening or business park, it will sit empty for a while then they all seem to burst into flames, declared unsafe and demolished.

I'm not being cynical, am I ??
