Just thought I'd share with you a few things that I have come across these last few months.

Came across this when fitting an extractor fan, droppings everywhere.

This I found when I sank some surface mounted sockets into the wall in a kitchen. I tested the circuit (4mm radial) continuity fine, IR over 300MEG on L/N and L/E, 1MEG on N/E.  Cable runs from the board in surface mounted trunking until it reaches the kitchen, then goes underneath tiling. Located it where the cable goes behind the door frame, the joiner had put a nail straight through the frame and the cable, continuity was made by the nail. This has got to have been like this for at least 20 years. It had also had a board change about 10 years ago.

This one, 6mm cable about 10mt run to shower pull (which they use to switch on the shower because shower button missing), running 9.5Kw shower.

you get all the good stuff then :slap

never seen a cooker switch like that one.

Best light fitting I've ever found was fitted into a garden wall - due to large hole in rear plate it had slowly collected soil in bottom over many years, then sprouted some seeds so that there was about an inch of small plants growing in the bottom, and it was still working. They don't make 'em like they used to... :slap :slap
