It may not appeal to everyone but as I’m interested in switchgear I enjoyed it.

Arcs, Sparks and Engineers. The centenary of A. Reyrolle & Co. Ltd. ISBN 0 9538972-1-4

The stuff on switchgear is interesting, it also goes in to the dirty deeds that went on in the background. You think customers keep moving the goalposts, the CEGB must have fitted wheels to them.

I agree , some of those things can be quite interesting .....as you say , an insight behind the scenes.

I read that in the 1880,s  I think  the Swan Electric Light Company  in Britain was about to be sued by Thomas Edison for infringment of copyright on the incandescant light bulb..    ...until it became obvious that Swan's reseach pre-dated Edison's and Swan was actually the first to develop the first light bulb.

They overcame their differences by amalgamating  to become The Ediswan Electric Company  or some such whatever.

So if you are on The Chase and  the question is , who invented the light bulb , You'll have to say Edison because hardly anyone knows about Swan.
