Hi all, I took a cold call from someone this morning claiming to be from the Policing Federation. The Federation is a legitimate organisation, but I called their number on their website. They put Me through to the facilities manager who said that He hasn't heard of this calling service that I have received, so if you do get a call from them making claims about them, it appears to be a scam. I also asked this manager whether He would have an issue with Me putting a possible alert on the forum about this, He said that it's not an issue.

I can never get any decent results from the search facility but, this comes up & has been mentioned here many many times, its a common scam sometimes Police, ambulance, fireman, nurses etc. I seem to remember there is about a 10% legitimacy in the organisation that calls you in as much they give the odd penny to the fund mentioned. If your lucky a few magazines may even be published.

Its still good to mention it here again in case some people do not know and fall for it.

Was it a 0151 number or a Merseyside accent perchance?

If so look up 'vardis' who were infamous for this stuff.

They now have changed name / company etc but are doing much the same thing

Had this call a couple of times

Definitely a scam

You're paying for an advert in this magazine that either won't be printed at all or if it is will be a tiny volume and be a total waste of money

But of course they are hoping the fire brigade/ nurses mentioned will tug on the heart strings and you will think you're helping a good cause

As Les Dennis would say on family fortunes

'if its up there, i'l give you the money myself'
