Adding extra solar panels (Y connector) doesn't increase power?

I have 2x 100w solar panels. When each is plugged into the charge controller on their own they generate energy just fine. But when I put both together through a Y connector then into the charge controller, it produces the same energy as only using one of them. If I remove one panel from the Y connecter then the other - the energy rate is unaffected. They both supply electricity to the charge controller but won't increase the flow when both are plugged in together. What do I test to find out what's wrong? Thanks

Need more information on your system and exactly what you are measuring.
Is this a 12volt system as used on caravans, etc? If so the power taken from the panel(s) will depend on the state of the battery, the charge rate set by the controller related to that battery state, and any additional load which is connected.

Panels only produce power (as opposed to voltage) if there is a demand for power (current) that they can satisfy.

If you have demand for 80W and a solar panel in full sun rated at 100W it will output 80W if the charge controller is rated for that
If you have demand for 80W and 2 solar panels in full sun rated 200w total the controller is still only going to show 80W

Connect a 150W watt load of some sort to the charge controller that is rated for 200W and re try your experiment
