:D Hi

without seeing the actual installation i think its fairly awkward or hard for any electrician to submit even a ball park figure for the works that you are describing.

if the conservatory/mini work shop is 100% dry and no risk of water ingress in any way then there is no requirement for IP Rated fittings, but i can understand where you are coming from with not wanting to take the risk!

If you do insist on purchasing the materials yourself, please do not opt for buying cheap and cheerfull as it would cost you more in the long run, opt for quality materials like Crabtree or MK etc, and also take advice of what your chosen electrician tells you.

i can only recommend that you take on board any other advice that your given on here and take it into consideration :D

Good Luck

Duplicate threads merged. Why are you even considering a mini CU for these couple of sockets? Do you have a separate CU for each other room in your house? As has been pointed out, there is no indication of  any cable lengths required, how big is the room, how far from the CU. will it need its own circuit or can an existing one be extended? what is the earthing arrangement? to many unknowns at the moment. Whether you buy stuff yourself or not will have negligible effect upon any costs quoted as it is the installing, connecting, testing time that is the greater part of the costs.

As said why the cu?

Anyway first off do the MEB's meet the required standards?

If you have a spare way in the cu that is inside the house that has rcd protection, use a 16amp mcb & Just run in a 2.5mm T/E surface clipped or in trunking & terminate into standard socket(s) & use an fcu (fused down to 3amp) to run the lights.

If you do not have a spare way, take a spur from the existing socket circuit, run the 2.5mm into a fcu (fused at 13amp) then run on to your sockets.

Once you've done either of those methods all you then need to do is test / issue a certificate that is appropriate to the work undertaken & depending on which method you go for notify work to the LBC & pay their fee.

Or best option call a local spark to give you a price.

the room is about 12ft by 7ft and the cu is old but

does have a RCCB and type 1 MCBs and as Said before the cu is on wall the work shop backs onto and reason i want new cu out there is it looks neater. And main earth bonding is there for water and gas

That has got to be the daftest reason for wasting money installing unnecessary equipment ever!...

Where is this CU going to be supplied from???

all id be using it for is charging drills /power tools so really only need 2 D-sockets and 2 lights

2 Double sockets and 2 lights....

Please don't tell me you are going to put the sockets on a ring as well??

it has got to be neater to just cable to the sockets & lights without a CU stuck on the wall!?

:C

Not much point asking for a ruff price if you are also sticking in extra wastage..

Special location/ you right just thats how i was told by a local sparkie it had to be done
and steptoe £2500 i could get my hole House rewired for that

Steps,

I'll see your £2k5 & raise you another £500

OP,

I'll do it for £3k, I bet I can run up a bigger bar tab than Steps, and no female company, unless I bring Mrs SW!

;)
