Has anyone ever advertised through one of the big DIY stores using the old board of business cards set up? And if so does it pay for itself ?:| ? :| ?:|

You mean its not free? So just sticking a card on there each week isn't acceptable to them?

Maybe cheaper to get some magnetic cards from vista or wherever and go in to them each weekend (early sat maybe) and stick them over their shelves around the electrical bits and bobs (technical term, I heard it in B&Q).

Might lead to being banned from the store though Blushing.

My cousin (a tiler) tried it with Homebase a few years back.....got sod all from it apart from harassment to chuck good money after bad for a second year of topping cards up in the store.

I've had a few calls from the local branch manager asking if I'd be interested in the same thing...............NO i say again NO.

Do kind of feel that i'm perfectly capable of filing up card holders myself.

I look at the percentages of getting any work from any type of advertiseing.

I visit DIY stores often, its part of being married! You know what I mean, wife bored on a sunday and finds you a job to do, so its off to the local DIY store.

Never have I once looked at any cards and from memory I can't say I have seen anyone taking them from the racks.

I would suspect that any calls you would get would be more of asking for advise rather than asking you to do the job.

Me personally I would stay away from it, expence if not returned is just wasted.

i advertise in a supermarket on the same deal, they did design lovely cards that i help myself to every week, and alot of people i know seem to say they have seen my card there, BUT i have had next to nothing from it, considering canceling now as i think the money could be better spent on other advertising.

if someone is in B&Q(other diy stores are available) then I think that says it all,

DIY,

they dont want to pay to have it done properly.

but,

they may ring you for the FREE advice.
