As most circuits now have led lamps, varispeed drives in washing machines etc and other electronics it's a safe bet there will be dc voltage.Why should it be up to us to decide what might/might not be connected to the circuit in the future?

'should' and reality are often very differentMost electronics these days including LEDs have switched mode supplies fed via a full wave rectifier. There should be no DC component.
