Is that a single one-off payment or is it monthly instalments? If you use internet banking you normally can log onto your account to cancel DD's to stop anymore automatically going out. Not sure what happens if you are part way through a monthly instalment plan though, maybe something written into the terms that as you have started the next years subscription you still have to pay the full amount. I regularly log-on to stop DD's for home or car insurance if I am changing insurer to make sure no more payments go out to the old company.
Are you suggesting our very own Deke is "The Older Generation"? It was rumoured he was well past being called the older generation way back in the mid-eighties.

It depends upon who is doing the calling as to who is to be considered the older generation .
