Apparently Sir Walter Raliegh did NOT throw his cloak across a puddle for Elizabeth the First . A made up story by a later romantic writer .

It was drummed into us at Junior school that Alfred the Great .................yes ...lets hear it ! ....Do I have to spell it out !....Yes he burnt some cakes .
Did nothing else whatsoever according to the City of B,ham Education Committee ...born ..became king... burnt some cakes ...died.
Taught a load of stuff about King Arthur & his Knights of the Round Table ....to find that they didn't exist .
King John...lost the Crown Jewels in The Wash ...thats it .
Henry V111 had six wives & woe betide you if you can't name them . Did nothing else , just had six wives .
Britain was never invaded , never defeated. Vikings , Danes , Normans , never happened. ! American Revolution never happened .
