Home for the terminally bewildered, one step ahead
My old laptop died, I now have acquired a new to me one
I have installed itunes
I have resurrected my old iPod classic 160Gb which has all my stuff on it
Question is how do I get this onto my new laptop ( not apple) so I can then synch/transfer it to my iPad for a trip

Laptop can see iPad and iPod , I used to,be able to drag and drop and I think I may not be able to due to it all being on iPod and NOT in iTunes on lappy, any clues please?

In the iTunes app on your PC, click the iPod touch button near the top left of the iTunes window. Select the type of content you want to sync (for example, Movies or Books) in the sidebar on the left. Note: For information about using the File Sharing option, see Transfer files between iPod touch and your computer.

I think this is the opposite of what I’m trying to achieve. This seems to want to delete my iPod files and replace with the
Laptop ones. I want to save what’s on my iPod as it seems to be the only library that I have and to transfer this to iTunes on my laptop so I can then synch this with my iPad, if that makes sense? I’ve left it a bit late as I fly out tomorrow 😂

I think ipods sometimes stored things in a different style. Are you using the same apple account as you did when you loaded the iPod.

If you dragged and dropped mp3 files onto it, you may need to download an old driver for it so the laptop can see it as an external device or drive.

Also ensure the iPod is in disk mode.
Then it should appear.

What happens if you sign in to iTunes on your iPad? will not all your purchased tunes be on there to download? (Sorry, but I don't have an iPad, hence the question)
This is what I was expecting, wrongly
Just loading films onto iPad for the flight
I’ll just listen to iPod on beach and get my head around it on return. I’ve got a back problem so that’s making my concentration lack 🤬

Yep same account. Previous purchases have crossed over, I just cannot move the 2,500 plus tracks I’ve got
