I  posted a while back that a lad at the local college worked with us for experience ,  can't offer anything permanent as we are both ancient old pharts who only work a couple of days a week , three at the most .

He got a start with a local contractor , all seemed good ,  but it transpires that the guy is short of money , separated , maintenance ,  other stuff going on , working till 9.00pm at night  , paying carp money  and now we find the merchant banker has been  bullying the lad , calling him everything that  you could possibly hear on a building site , demanding he first fixes a new build house in one day .......... in other words , cheap labour , no offer of permanent employment  or college release .   No wonder we could'nt find out what happened to his original lad.

So the lad told him to shove his job where the sun doesn't shine  ,  he,s back with his dad  who's a carpenter / builder  / bathroom  & kitchen fitter  and also back with us next week on a couple of jobs.

I feel,for him

local golf club is having a new heating system in being done by a firm from out of the area ( making a very good job of it)

all,I am doing is putting supplies into switsched fuse spurs in plant room.

one bloke started ripping into an apprentice through NO fault of his own.

bloke made a mistake and blamed apprentice in front of their boss

so,I laid into HIM BIG style in front of his boss and everybody else ( not my place to do so, but I do not like witnessing it)

i then constantly took, the pee out of him for a week and mentioned his mistake at every opportunity

things were a lot calmer after that

Good for you.

Some people are so inadequate that they have to take it out on the defenceless .

I have to say that I would have , and have reacted the same way.

I just hate bullies.

Those were my thoughts too,  apprentice is a decent lad , a credit to his dad ,  been at college for 2 yrs so is still adjusting to the "real" world .

Never had any experience working with a sparks but after his first day with us he said he'd learnt more in a day than in a year at college.

I can remember a couple of guys back in the day , who used to blame the apprentices for every dropped goullie   ( I never had to spell goolie  before) .  One was always dropping others in the brown stuff  to cover his own mistakes.      The worst scenario was to to be sent to give him a hand for a couple of weeks ...this meant he would be blaming you for everything after you'd been moved elsewhere.    Tosspot .

The other side of the coin, as an apprentice I was wiring a commercial garage and got nothing but earache from one of the other trades for everything I did. My then mentor overheard what was going on, what happened next was messy.
