Hi chaps

where can I find the Capacity for the sheath of various sizes of armoured cable?

thanks mate but it gives CSA not capacity. Is capacity not different for steel rather than copper?

What do you mean by capacity for the sheath as it is there primeraly as a mechanical protection and should not be used to carry current unless when used as an earth under fault conditions.

I wouldn't say that it is primarily mechanical protection.

It is equally used as a CPC.

If you use our sponsor`s excellent software, "easycert", it will work it out for you :) :) :) .Alternatively, use the adiabatic equation, with k values from table 54.4

KME what part of the easycert software does this, please point me in the right direction Pray

If, for instance, you were filling out an MWC.

Where you are asked for details of the cable used to modify circuit, you put SWA

Give installation method as normal, and csa of live conductors.

In the drop-down menu for csa of cpc, select "armour"

The cpc wizard will pop up. Enter details (pvc / xlpe; conductor size & no. of cores.)

Wizard will provide csa. for you.
