RJ45 Network Cable Tester Crimper Stripper Portable Set on eBay (end time 07-Feb-11 04:12:15 GMT)

50 RJ45 Grey Boots & fifty Modular Plugs UK seller new on eBay (end time 14-Feb-11 22:50:23 GMT)

I didnt realise it was so easy to make the ends off with rj45's... i seen a guy making them off when installing a cctv system and it looked so easy..... i have made 5 cables up already.... dont know what im going to do with them, i just wanted to test it out... haha

seriously cant go wrong with the price i got it all for tho.

After a while you might find that the cable tester (it's really only a point to point tester), the switch gets a bit temperamental.

Worth looking at:

Test Equipment - multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, thermometers & electrical testers

They cost more, but are more compact and give a clearer idea on the fault (still point to point test though) and works flawlessly

When making up cables and patch panels stick to 568B pin assignments

As to boots, I tend to find them a PITA and tend not to fit them, but I guess as you have them so use them

Lastly don't ever waste your time making up patch cables unless it's just a few, if you have dozens to make, it's cheaper to buy 0.3m and 0.5m of the web than spend time making them.
