Theres a notorious bus lane in B,ham city centre that is badly signed , its like a rat trap for the unwary driver, suddenly its too late and you're in the Bus Lane.    Everyone complains , RAC  & AA have commented ,  nothing ever happens .

Local radio today announced that in the past year  22000 drivers have been photographed on the Bus Lane and fined £ 60 which equals  £1320000  per annum.

The council say the fines  pay for policing the restriction.   :C

To me , the fact that 22000 drivers have missed the signage speaks for itself.

I've said it all along with camera's they're mostly used for revenue gathering, speed camera's are great for it. There was one on a dual carriageway near me, in all the years I can remember, no accidents, yet they put up a camera. There's another one in Parbold, part way down a hill, just after a bend, that damn thing causes more accidents than it prevents. People going down a steep hill, out in the sticks, spot the camera and slam on because they're a couple of mph over the limit.

Most things today have very little to do with safety, how many accidents or near misses have been caused by "your" bus lane camera, as people try and swerve to avoid the bus lane? Bet they won't tell you the answer to that one.

Hi,

It's wonderful being a motorist given the many restrictions now placed upon us.

Bron and I haven't shopped in Huddersfield Town centre for the last 25 years since Meadowhall opened; in fact we keep clear of town and city centers; like most places now in the UK we have increasing numbers of 20 mph limits; not long now before we have someone walking in front of cars waving a red flag; vehicles have never been as safe with better tyres and brakes but if pedestrians wander into the road without even looking why does the motorist always get blamed when they get hit; I bought a dash cam quite a while ago and now I use it every time I use the car; the dash cam not only records others but it also records my driving so I'm sure to behave myself. I believe the stretch of Wakefield Road between Waterloo and Middlestown has 17 speed camera all just waiting to take my picture? Driving down our local lane I couldn't keep up with a cyclist whilst I adhered to the 30 mph speed limit which really is sick.

Over a year ago I was approaching Middlestown having just left a 40 mph zone dropping down to 30 mph at 6:30 am on a Saturday morning when the road and pavement was virtually deserted and I spotted the guy in blue hiding in the graveyard entrance; I drove past at 15 mph wondering if I would get a ticket for curb crawling. As usual though the many suffer for the few and we've all seen the idiots driving recklessly whilst using their mobile phone so who is mostly to blame?

Kind regards, Col.

Some years ago a friend of mine was driving back to work in the village, she'd popped home for lunch, a drunk guy staggered out of the pub and literally fell through her car windscreen. Police and ambo roll up and first job is to breathalyse her, despite several witnesses from the pub saying he was p155ed as a newt!

How come newts are so drunk?

How come newts are so drunk?
Dunno, maybe that's why they spend thousands building those little tunnels under roads, so they don't get hit by traffic as they stagger home.

Reminds me of the Scotsman who finds a fly in his drink, picks it out and shakes it, "come on you little ******, spit it out".
