Just curious what you guys do on ure invoices?

Do you stick parts, and labour separate?

or just a description of the work carried out and then a total amount.

This is for general joe blogs down the street...

I seperate labour and materials but keep it vague, don't describe the work carried out - if a business customer wants to put wiring his hot tub through as a business expense, what business is that of mine?

If the invoice is over a couple of hundred pounds, I attach a seperate breakdown.

I have never had an invoice queried!

I just put down

Completed works as per quotation **** & a total.

Not forgetting the % discount if paid by **/**/** date

i brake it down as much as possible, they are less likely to question the total cost that way. ;)
Concur!

All details itemised & accounted for.

easier to remember why you are charging them for various items at a later date if any questions asked..

But as Danny also said...

Never had a quibble over costs! ;)

All depends if you are doing it on daywork or price. If you are doing it on daywork you have got to breakdown materials and labour otherwise you are heading for trouble. If it pricework you just need to give a bill for work done.
