This cropped up on an American site. It started a bit of an argument between myself and a highly respected American engineer. He insisted the motor was a repulsion start single phase motor, I was adamant it was a three phase Schrage motor.
The only description of the motor we had was “a variable speed brush shifting motor on a press”. Variable speed and brush shifting were my argument, JR backed down.
I’ve known JR for 10+ years and he has helped me many times in the past and we have respect for each other. It’s still nice to get one up
