Ok all.

Heres a quicky.

A garden outhouse/Office.

50m cable run.-so amoured

In outhouse-3 2g sockets + 2 outside lights and1-2 lighting units inside.

would you use 6mm 3 core or 10mm 3 core.

Because of the run length i wont take into account diversity of usage. apparently less than 20 amps.......

so on the c/unit 1 32 amp mcb for ring and 6 amp for lights all protected by rcd(of course).

I wouldnt noramlly ask such dumb question by the potential customer as aguing tooth and nail to save pennies. I have advised 10mm-to be safe.

I'm at edge of walking away anyway. but wish another point of view.....

Hi jc,

10mm is the way to go !

You could get away with 6mm if you went radial for sockets 16A.

But i would'nt personally !

This is my first post,so please be gentle if i'm wrong (hangover)!

By the way, Hi all !

Welcome to the forum David

10mm personally TT it

my shed is 25m from the house and has smoke aqlarm and security alarm

i would have thought that a must being 50m away from the house

sods law dictates that he will want something added at a later date.....

price it up properly with a good mark up on the materials and then be prepared to drop a bit if he haggles.

some money up front a must with this customer one thinks

I agree with the above Gentlemen 100%.

Welcome to the forum David.

As said thats exactly what i'm thinking.

Even though the mathematics and experience tells you it.Sometimes you just need another voice to confirm what you think.

Thanks all.

Quite right JC, Sir.

100% agree.

10mm for sure, and you could use 2core to save the pennies if need be,

remember you're not exporting the Earth so the 3rd core is only a waste anyway.

stuffer gland it into a plastic enclosure at shed end and heat shrink the outer sheath and armour to ensure its well insulated away from touch.
