I see that the terminals on the latest sockets have gone back to the old idea of a screw pressing against the cores instead of the box style .

I was connecting three 2.5s in a twin socket, I always give 'em a pull after connecting and every time the third one pulled out , just could'nt get it to grip .

Had to revert to what I think is carp and twist the three solids together.

Thanks Crabtree

Think your right , its bad practice to twist solids anyway , right performance when you come to split them .

We were told not to twist them when they first appeared with the change to metric sizes.

I stopped using the Crabtree sockets as soon as I noticed this change - about a year or so ago iirc. It's obviously a cost cutting exercise, but those terminals really are very poor. I only use them if I need to match in the traditional shape with other sockets.

hate crabtree sockets! detest using them, MK or GET for me
