A cooker has 4 x 1.5 kW hot plates, a 2 kW grill and a 3.5 kW oven. If the cooker is supplied from a 230 V ac supply, what is the maximum current drawn by the cooker ?

how can i put this into a scientific calculator and get the answer ?. :_|

Add all of your kilowatts up & divide by voltage...

:)

just to add..

does you question ask anything about Diversity???

or just the MAX possible total current.. everything switched on??

e.g.

4 x 1.5kw = 6kw rings

2kw grill

3.5 kw oven

total 11.5kw / 230v = 50amps..

However Diversity says NOT everything is on at the same time..

e.g. you anit grilling while bakin in the oven..

page 96 o-s-guide (red flavour 17th)

cooking appliance..

First full 10amp of load + 30% or remainder.

so typical current in real life is 10a + (40*0.30)= 22amps ;)

so you don't need a great big humongous massive cable to supply your oven!!!! :^O :^O:^O

Yep 50Amps max power without diversity, see you got 17th osg now specs is it worth money

Cost wise...

Any technical reference book in a specialist field will always appear to be more per physical page when compared to other "Best seller type books".

i.e. got far more value for money when buying the "Harry Potter" books for the kids!! More pages.. Hard-back.. Cheaper!!!

But if you are intending to have any "serious" knowledge in your chosen field of work..

you need to have access to the essential reference material..

either yourself.. or at your place of work!

As I work for myself........ I need it & got to have it!! tool of the trade!

and indeed it is one of the essential documents required for membership of NICEIC and I suspect the same for the other scheme providers...

MY one complaint about this OSG -vs- the old OSG...

the index only give the section list NOT the page number!

e.g.

if you look up "Diversity"

old OSG had:

Diversity Appx 1 pg84
.new OSG has:

Diversity Appx 1
.No page numbers.. skinflint's cutting costs on the printing ink for the index.

other than that.. Its a great little book. ;)

with nicer little colour pictures..... :)

I like pictures!! :p :p:p:) ;)
