Hi Lillpete,

I find it easy to put everything in a spreadsheet when quoting for work at least then you have got everything down in a clear format especially if the customer is asking about why its such and such price etc!

Also if its a while before doing the work it will help refresh memory to parts needed and length of job.

I have included an excel spreadsheet which might help you, but if you were to show customer this then I would remove markup on materials and also ensure labour showed 2 days work. Obviously I have just put in figures not relevant to your quote.

You can't attach an excel file only bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip. You could compress it as a zip file.

:)

Thanks Apache, thinks I will have to look into this tomorrow as not really sure about zip files etc

That file is brilliant, where I struggle is estimating how long things will take :( so I just went for 2 days but I think by breaking it down like that I may find it easier to guestimate Applaud Smiley

Hi Lillpete,

You are better off quoting for 2 days work even if it isnt gonna take that long cos in reality your not going to finish a job at say 2pm, clear up, tidy your tools away and then go somewhere else, unless of course you have got a quick job just around the corner. Also you shouldnt feel guilty because when your self employed you have to do everything yourself like paperwork, ordering and collecting materials, going out doing quotes etc... so these are all hidden tasks that your customer doesnt see, but will need to pay for.

With the good help of Apache just going to see if I can upload the zip file for the costing file, erm so if someone can open it to check that it works please.
