I have worked with flat basic surface contacts that are easy to match up at the door, but what happens when the door or window is offset which some are. They must be different designs for these and what are the names for them so I know what to ask for?

Don't quote me but I think standard magnet door contacts can be upto 20mm apart. I know that I have installed some at different distances apart and at differing angles too each other without problems. It does give the exact measurements on the instructions.

I have never seen specially made spacers for this but you can normally fit the two parts on different planes without a problem. If its quiet you can hear the reed switch click, if not attach a short bit of cable and a tester and hold the contacts against the door to check.

On a troublesome door a while ago i used a second contact as a spacer to build up the difference.
