down sized cables

I have just disconnected a 3p compressor on a 16mm armoured but inside the isolator each phase was on connectors then dropped to 2.5mm

And connected.looks like they struggled to terminate. Is this just lazy and bad practise or dangerous ,32amp compresser.

Sounds like cable is too big.. if it has been calculated to be the correct size then a bigger isolator should have been used to,accommodate the cables

dropping size by using Connectors inside isolator is a rough as a back
