I have a replacement extractor fan which I need to install. The instructions say that the fan (VENT AXIA) is double insulated and must not be earthed. My question is what should I do with the earth wire which was connected to the old fan? Can I tape it up and leave it behind the fan? I know, I should get an electrician to do it but it's so easy to install I'd rather do it myself. Thanks, Mick

The earth cable should be sleeved (insulated) and placed into a connector. Just putting tape over the end is a little shabby.

However as this is a diy job then tape over the end is better than nothing, and better than just cutting it off.
