Hi, ive got to replace a gas hob for an electric hob. At the moment the electric fan oven runs off 2.5mm to a fused spur on a 13a fuse and then on 6mm cable back for consumer unit on a 32a mcb. My question is ive worked out the 6mm cable and run both the hob and oven but cant think how i can wire it because i very very much doubt id get three 6mm cables into one cooker isolator switch, and then from that to hob, and for the oven to a fused spur and then 2.5mm to the oven. Would a 30a junction box to seperate the 6mm be acceptable you think? then take one 6mm to hob, and one 6mm to a fused spur and off in 2.5mm to oven. only way i can think off.

Normally i would use a socket outlet for the oven but its on other side of kitchen:(

From the board to a 47mm deep double backbox and a CCU2000 for the hob then over to your oven supply?

Must both be fairly tiny loads to run them both off one 6mm cable

A 32A/6mm cooker circuit is good for 15kW (see OSG). If you need more and there's no cable derating needed then you can always use a 40A mcb. If this isn't enough then you must be feeding the 5000!

Click / Scolmore do a dual output cooker outlet plate, PWC (maybe PWR) 417 I think is the model number.

i have been using the click dual outlets, used one the other day very good, dont cost much more than a single outlet, you could get 2.5mm for the oven and 6mm for the hob in a single outlet but the dual outlet will make it much easier

how can you put 2.5mm in with 6mm? cant see how the 2.5mm would be protected on a 32a mcb

PC Electrics, where abouts in the OSG?

From what Iunderstand the 2.5mm cables on the load side of a switch fused connection unit so it'll be relying on the 13a fuse for protection

The cable will be protected against short circuit or earth fault by virtue of meeting the requirements of the adiabatic. As the appliance is a fixed load there is no need to protect against overload as the fixed load cannot overload the cable.

Sorry the apprentice has my OSG, but it is in there, you'll just have to look.
