Have a glass washer failed a pat test and the company says they will not fix it and I should scrap it. is this correct.

Who is "the company"

The owner of the business, or the manufacturer of the washer?

What has it failed on?

did you PA test it? or do you work for it's owner?

You are free to have a go at fixing it if you feel competent and the owner is willing to pay for your time.

not very descriptive....it could have failed for many reasons. unless we know exactly what it is and what its failed on, then its impossible to say

everything is repairable. although the cost to repair may well be higher than replacement

AS I tried to ask more information needed.

Perhaps they paid a 20p per item company to test everything and for that all you get is a fail sticker with no help about why it failed and no help to fix it.

they cant help to fix it because the dishwasher doesnt have a button on it saying 'self fix'

Have just looked at a previous post on this;

Required under PUWER '89 IF the thing is

in the workplace.  More than likely EWR '89

as well.

At a guess 80%+ of companies undertaking PAT use very unskilled workers with limited knowledge and simple push & print testers..

Some of these "idiot-proof" testers can give an apparent fail on a good piece of a equipment..

This is where a competent knowledgeable operative is needed to evaluate its true state and carry out any amended tests as appropraite...

You can go and pass a 1-day C&G PAT course with very limited proper electrical training or knowledge.

and buy a plug & play tester for a few hundred quid...

Then call yourself a PAT company!!!

I would suggest you get a fully competent trained electrician in to come and fully test the appliance and evaluate what the actual problem is....

To just say "Fail" without any clarification is about a useful as asking the doctor what is best cuz I am just "Unwell"

Symptoms are needed!!!!

The glass and dishwasher is a bloke called Pat, the PAT testing company tried to test Pat but he's a bit deaf, gets grumpy about postman jokes and worse still was not fitted with a standard plug. Sticker applied saying leakage to earth when hands in the sink ...
