Steps,

Not being funny, but what's wrong with your old one?

Most of these modern PC's are far more powerful than the average user needs, if you only do web browsing and documents then it'll be more than enough

Nothing really, except for a lack of HDD space,

And the price of a big HD is half that of a PC,

would mean I could hopefully run windows in a VB too, for the missus,

she needs it for work, save having to reboot every time.

What size hard disc are you needing? I would have thought an additional hard disc is much cheaper than a PC, I saw some 500Gig discs for around

The cost of hard disc storage is getting ridiculously cheap, I can recall when a 1GIG USB stick was around

+1 if you play PC games then as the detail increases you need more oommph under the bonnet, also true if you were into photo or video editing, but for email, word, excel and typical home use a 5 year old PC will likely do the job, mind you at that price why not, Scan.co.uk have a similar offer right now for

Samsung Spin Point F3 SATAII 1TB 32MB Cache Hard Drive <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM | HD103SJWell cheap

But steps pc's bios may not support larger hard disks, or Sata.....

I assume this is OK for SATA,

but how would I know if it will take that size of HD or not?

thanks canoey,

but for the price it would be just as easy/cheap(almost) to chance buying a 1TB HD anyway,

I'll maybe try looking over the weekend see if I can find that website again that checks if your MB will support certain HW.

it will only support 1G of RAM, so now Im not so sure,,,,, :C

Steps Computer Hardware - Scan.co.uk if that was the question

I got the details via a Scan eshot the LN are their parts, when I click on the link on my eshot it puts all the parts in to a shopping basket in my name, however you would need to cut and paste each part I believe ?

And it comes preloaded with Linux Steps!!, ok not Ubantu, but if you can always put Ubantu on it although you will need an optical drive, if you have an internal drive you can use this kit to convert via USB IOMAX USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Adapter Kit with Power: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
