I would like to fit a line of three ceiling pendant lights in my kitchen but want to avoid using the standard ceiling roses to fit the wiring. Does anyone know if just fitting a standard metal ceiling plate to feed the wiring through would meet current regulations? If it makes any difference the lighting circuit also feeds 12 sunken spotlights.

Cheers, V

would be looking to fit dry lining box to screw metal plate to. 2 things to consider - access to terminations for future maintenance, and proper enclosure of electrical terminations ie junction boxes, or dry lining box, not connector block and PVC tape

If your doing it this way ensure the box and building structure can support the weight of the light.

What exactly is the OP trying to achieve?

You want hanging cables for pendant lights, but you DON'T want normal ceiling roses.

All I can think of therefore is a standard square 1G box flush mounted in the ceiling and a flat plate flex outlet plate.

Perhaps a better explanation of what you are trying to achieve might help?

But any "fancy" sort of pendant light fitting normally comes with the matching ceiling bit to hang the flex from anyway.
