I have been approached to home 2 male guinea pigs but have been told they fight and need seperate hutches

According to books i have read this shouldnt happen any ideas ????

couple of points i have discovered.....

they have been kept in the house an not really been handled for a while...

they were kept with a female until recently in the same cage....

could it be that they have been possesive towards the female ?

I approve of guinea pigs as pets! I had them as a child. I'd hope if there's no sight/smell/sound of a female they will live together in peace and harmony!

:D

Theory - sorry for delay in replying, been a busy weekend!

BTW guinea pigs need a daily source of vitamin C and so must be fed guinea pig food NOT rabbit food.

Thanks Patch...

it appears with further investigation that the two of them have always been fighting.....so im steering clear of those two

I will still get a pair for my lad though.....

I do have to declare a vested interest here!!!!

G-Pig's are the SL family pet...

lost count of how many we have had....

Max simultaneous 5, (3 girls 2 boys)..

Boy guinea pigs can have a fight just for the hell of it!!!!

girls or not!!!

General rule...

If they are brothers from same litter, always shared same cage,

they stand better chance of getting on well together...

But can still get a bit frisky and 'Who's-Da-Boss'ish when food around!

Girl G-Pigs are far more 'Get-On-able' ...

(bit like real girls & blokes really)

the Pig Blokes just like showing their manhood...

even when No girls around,

Just trying to impress in case someone watching!!!

If two blokes in same cage...

make sure they have their own houses and food bowls..

can help them keep themselves to themselves!

:D ;)
