Hdd Transplant

Old laptop used in a factory, bruised, battered but happily running Windows 2000. Want to carry on running Windows 2000 in this instance. Can I take the hard disc out and insert in another good, vintage laptop as long as it's exactly the same make, spec, hardware wise etc and then boot up as "normal". Would there say be BIOS changes to make?

You may need to get the bios to "auto detect" the hdd and it may need to install some new drivers,, but that should be all

The transplant worked a treat! Original HDD put into same make / spec but better condition laptop. All booted up, Windows 2000 started no problems. Only slight issue is it needs an audio driver but that's easily fixed.
