There is a ideal height/location for a room stat, and that is not one of them.

manufacturers state 1500mm from finished floor level for best results.

I have not seen them fitted that low before but have seen one at the top of the stairs 6" form the ceiling.

I have often seen this put down as 1200mm on many instructions, Who in there right mind would want it that low, it should be set for the average height of a person, not fitted at a height for the few, if you are disabled etc then that's fine we''ll set at a comfortable practical height for your requirements.

Electricians guide to the buildings regs says' that light switches should be no higher than 1200mm so that person's whose reach is limited can easily use them.

Should we have ramps a hand rails fitted in every house as well !!

I have to bend over to turn off TRV's, should there be a rule we have to have them at 1200mm as well.

I have a bad back !! is there anything I can claim for !!

It really bugs me that we have such stupid thinking sometimes and that all common sense is thrown out.

I'll have a pill and calm down now.

Maybe we should start a thread of things that bugs us !!!

See ya fella's.

Mike.

My boys tell me that 1200-1500mm is the ideal height of most if not all room stats, so compliance with the building regulations can be met.

i do 1.5 metre but if elderly i go to 1.2 metres..

always work to manufactures instructions

When I moved into my house the thermostat was on the wall behind the stairs, the only way to reach it was to put a ladder on the stairs leaning accross to the wall and adjust it like that ha ha. I've moved it now and put it where I want it. The house was only 10 years old when I moved in so why it was put there I'll never know
