Electricity is sold by the Kilowatt/Hour.

For 1kWh the 11watt pump would run for 1000/11 = 90.9hours.

in a year there are 365*24 = 8760hours.

so during a year this pump would use 8760/90.9 = 96.4 kWh (approx)

So we will have to buy 96.4 units of electricity....

which do actually vary dependant upon how much you use..

e.g. so many units charged @ higher rate then drops to lower rate. (this can be checked off you bill)

typically these are around 10p & 17p {give or take +/-2p}

so for example at the higher rate....

96.4 units * 17p =
